Public Broadcasting Service: Program Information Management Portal
The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) teamed with Accenture to create an innovative portal for managing its information more efficiently and effectively.

To deliver future digital services to its 171 member stations and more high-quality programming to its 90 million viewers, PBS needed to build a broadcast information management system to support its industry-leading transition to digital television.
How Accenture helped
Building on Microsoft’s .NET platform, Accenture designed and deployed an innovative extranet linking PBS programming and scheduling information directly to hundreds of content producers and distributors across America. This comprehensive Web-based portal tracks each program and all associated data from commission to on-air premiere, and is one of the first broadcast industry applications of Microsoft.NET.
High Performance Delivered
The solution reduced the PBS Broadcast Operations group’s need for data re-entry by up to 85 percent. Further, PBS compressed the process of delivering program information to its station community by 10 days per month.
